IPS School Board Candidates Set Priorities In First Public Interview

The first forum for candidates seeking election to the Indianapolis Public Schools’ Board of School Commissioners was held Saturday by a group often critical of the district’s policies.

A member of the nonprofit IPS Community Coalition (IPSCC) interviewed most of the candidates one-on-one in a series of Facebook Live videos. The IPSCC will later announce which candidates it will endorse in the November election.

The big picture: Candidates are concerned about the learning loss of students during the pandemic and how it will be addressed, especially for children of color who make up the majority of district and students with disabilities. They also agreed racial equity must be the focus for IPS to make new policies and invest in improving neighborhood schools. Why scientist Gretchen Goldman’s tweet about a CNN interview went viral

SALT LAKE CITY — Scientist and mother Gretchen Goldman never expected her message to go viral.

On Tuesday, Goldman posted a side-by-side photo to Twitter of herself during a CNN interview compared to the messy reality of the work-from-home mother’s Washington, D.C. home.

“I was surprised how much it resonated with people,” Goldman said of the tweet, which as of Wednesday afternoon has more than a quarter-million “Likes” and 30,000 retweets.

Goldman’s tweet, the beginning of Twitter threads, reads “Just so I’m being honest.”

PUNE, India, Aug. 26, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — SaaS-based digital skills assessment startup Interview Mocha today announced that it has secured $600,000 in pre-series A funding from a group of investors, including Freshworks CEO Girish Mathrubootham.

Interview Mocha has remained bootstrapped since its founding in 2015, and has revenues of more than $2 million ARR. The startup was founded by former IBM executives Amit Mishra and Sujit Karpe.

Other high-profile investors in the round include former Snapdeal CPO and Facebook Director Anand Chandrasekharan, and Vaibhav Domkundwar, CEO of Better Capital.
