Schneider Electric announced the impact of a new multi-million dollar investment in machine learning tools and data science – Press Release

Schneider Electric announced the impact of a new multi-million dollar investment in machine learning tools and data science. This investment brings AI-assisted advising to its energy and sustainability services offer, giving its clients access to next-generation digital tools. This improves the insights and analysis of a company’s energy and sustainability portfolio, driving more efficient value and bottom-line impact in pursuit of climate change resilience and other resource-reduction related targets.

The investment optimizes corporate resource consumption and reduction data during the dramatic worldwide energy and climate transition. Most companies today still face data challenges that limit their sustainability approach. Companies struggle with inconsistent, incomplete, overabundant, and poor-quality resource consumption and cost data. The introduction of AI allows companies to get more value out of the data they produce and provides more accurate and efficient analysis as the foundation of an energy and sustainability strategy.

HRT announces new electric buses; Northam signs HRT funding law to improve service

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — It’s a glimpse into the future of public transit.

Six battery-powered buses will soon become a part of the Hampton Roads Transit system.

“That means no soot, no smoke, no harmful emissions,” said HRT President William Harrell.

HRT officials say the new buses will be deployed along Virginia Beach Boulevard between Downtown Norfolk and the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. HRT has agreed to remove the same number of diesel buses from its fleet.

The buses are quieter and have zero tailpipe emissions.

Along with the bus ribbon cutting, Gov. Ralph Northam signed two bills for dedicated HRT funding — the first time that’s been done in HRT history.

“A lot of work went into this legislation so they could create this program so they have a sustained source of revenue to keep this transit running,” said Northam.

Harrell says this means new connections, faster commutes, and better

COVID-19, Environment Give Electric School Buses a Jump Start

When it comes to introducing electric vehicles to school district fleets, Patrick Gervais wants decision-makers to know that the future is now, even with North America under the ongoing stranglehold of the new novel coronavirus.

“I saw a survey [recently] that something like 92 percent of people think the electrification of transportation is five years away, 7 percent knew about it and only 1 percent are buying it,” said Gervais, vice president of marketing and communications for The Lion Electric Company, a Quebec, Canada, manufacturer of zero-emission commercial vehicles. “What’s really important right now is that people need to know the technology is available now, it’s working, it’s working really well and it’s the right thing to do.”

Gervais is among industry leaders at several firms promoting electric-vehicle options that are encouraging school bus fleet managers to think outside the box, when it comes to traditional acquisition and financing strategies.

Schneider Electric implements site-wide SCADA system for QF’s Education City – Press Release

Schneider Electric is installing a site-wide supervisory control and data acquisition management solution at Qatar Foundation’s Education City.

The technology will be implemented across every large building on campus, 42 in all, and will give Qatar Foundation’s operations and security teams a single, centralised platform to manage a number of processes across Education City, including monitoring and controlling energy usage, and temperature settings. The system provides a single, unified environment for real-time data acquisition, analysis, visualisation and integration of various applications.

Education City houses branch campuses of some of the world’s leading universities, including Carnegie Mellon University, Georgetown University, Virginia Commonwealth University, Northwestern University, Texas A&M University, and Weill Cornell-Medicine, as well as Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar Foundation’s homegrown university, research institutes, and community facilities. While each building had its own building management system, Qatar Foundation wanted to have a solution that would enable a single unified view and
