Missouri Job Center to offer IT and web development classes | KOLR

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.- The Missouri Job Center announced Friday it will be offering IT and web development classes for free to those who meet eligibility guidelines.

According to a press release, the job center can do this with the help of The Geek Foundation. Classes will meet two nights per week and are tailored to adults wanting to change careers and get into the field of Information Technology and Web Development.

Below are the two tech classes offered:

  • Develop Yourself IT Class is a 24-week class that prepares students to take the CompTIA A+ exam and equips students with skill sets needed for entry-level IT job opportunities
  • Develop Yourself Full-Stack Web Development Class is 20 weeks and trains in JavaScript, Java, and the foundational programming concepts needed for Front-End and Full-Stack Web Developer careers

Both classes begin on October 27th and will be offered at multiple locations, the job center says.

Young artisan benefits from Development Bank’s skills-based facility

Development Bank of Namibia (DBN) has unveiled Mekemo Trading, a mechanical and automotive services provider, as a recipient of skills-based finance for young artisans.

The Bank’s skills-based facility for young artisans and professionals is designed to enable aspirant entrepreneurs with professional or artisan qualifications, but with limited or no collateral, to embark on the course of entrepreneurship. It also enables young entrepreneurs with emerging businesses to expand.

The Bank defines young entrepreneurs as aged 36 and younger, but will, in exceptional circumstances, accept applicants aged up to 40.

SMEDAN Flags Off National Business Skills Development Programme

The Small and Medium Enterpriss Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), yesterday flagged off the national business skills development initiative for Lagos State.

Over 1000 entrepreneurs are expected to benefit from the programme that is already running in some states.


SMEDAN’s director-general, Dikko Radda said small and medium enterprises are critical in the Nigerian economy. He said the initiative would trigger an entrepreneurial revolution in industrialisation, agriculture, and commerce in Nigeria.

The SMEDAN DG explained that the programme is running in 11 states in the country including: Katsina, Rivers, Delta, Ebonyi, Adamawa, Niger, Lagos, Kwara, Bauchi, Zamfara and Ekiti where a total of 1,397 entrepreneurs would be impacted with entrepreneurship skills, vocational skills, and empowerment materials.

He said the initiative has been concluded in Ebonyi, Niger, and Adamawa, with others commencing subsequently.

UoM to start skill development courses for rural students | Mysuru News

Mysuru: The University of Mysore will launch skill development courses in government first grade colleges in Hassan and Chamarajanagar that were shifted to other districts by the state higher education department citing students’ strength.
Recently, the state government had announced plans of shifting six government first grade colleges with less than 100 students, to other districts. As part of the decision, Terakanambi Government FGC in Gundlupet taluk in Chamarajanagar was shifted to Kudachi in Belagavi district and Hethur Government FGC in Sakleshpura taluk in Hassan was shifted to Hebbal in Bengaluru.
In order to help students in these colleges to continue their education, the state admitted them to other colleges in the district.

Tadepalli: Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tech Mahindra Foundation, Biocon Academy and Schneider Electric to provide skills to the youth in the upcoming 30 skill development colleges throughout the State.
