Ramco Cements inks pact to develop apex skill development centre

Leading cement company The Ramco Cements Ltd and Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC ) have signed an agreement for setting up an Apex Skill Development Centre (ASDC) for imparting high-end skill training in the construction and infrastructure sector.

The agreement was signed by Chief Executive Officer of The Ramco Cements Ltd, A V Dharmakrishnan and Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation, V Vishnu on September 19 in the presence of State Chief Minister Tamil Nadu Edappadi K Palaniswami.

The proposed ASDC will be established at Ariyalur in Tamil Nadu, for which Ramco Cements have come forward to alienate six acres of land for setting up the project, according to a statement.

Department of science and technology, IIT Madras develop portable structure for COVID treatment

New Delhi [India], August 22 (ANI): The department of science and technology in collaboration an IIT Madras start up has come up with a portable micro structure named ‘MediCAB’ for COVID-19 treatment which is foldable and has a doctor’s room, an isolation room, a medical room/ward, and a twin-bed ICU, said Union Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Friday.

The DST has developed it in collaboration with ‘Modulus Housing, the start-up incubated by IIT Madras. They have come up with a solution using a decentralised approach to detect, manage and treat COVID-19 patients in local communities through portable microstructures.

ACRE program helps entrepreneurs develop business plan, learn new skills | Agriculture

COLUMBIA — The Agribusiness Center for Research and Entrepreneurship (ACRE), in partnership with Clemson Cooperative Extension, is now accepting applications for the third-annual curriculum program for agribusiness innovators.

“Over the past three years, our ACRE program has helped dozens of entrepreneurs take their agribusinesses to the next level, boosting innovation and showing the ingenuity of South Carolina agribusiness,” Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers said.

The six-session program offers an overview of business planning and management, including preplanning, marketing, pricing, cost of production, profitability and financial statements. Participants will also pitch their business plans to an agribusiness panel for the opportunity to be awarded $5,000 ($25,000 total in awards).

“The ACRE curriculum program introduces business planning processes and management skills for starting a successful agribusiness,” said Dr. Nathan Smith, Clemson Extension economist and agribusiness program team leader.

MSRDC wants to develop industrial training and skill development centres along Samruddhi corridor

The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) wants to develop industrial training centres and skill development centres along the Samruddhi Mahamarg which is also known as the super communication -expressway from Nagpur to Mumbai. A tender regarding the same has been issued inviting interested agencies to bid for the project.

A senior MSRDC official who did not wish to be named told the Free Press Journal, “Once the corridor is developed, the establishment of such growth centres will open up several opportunities. Also, this corridor will be providing direct connectivity to India’s largest container port– JNPT and therefore establishing such industrial and skill development centres will help the companies supplying goods and services to and fro. It will also provide job opportunities to nearby villagers and generate revenue to the government.”

According to the MSRDC, a pre-bid meeting has been arranged on September 4 at 3 pm for interested agencies
