Enrolling in health education courses may help change student’s beliefs about stress — ScienceDaily

College students are under a lot of stress, even more so lately due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on certain personality types, especially neurotic personalities, college health courses could help students develop a more positive stress mindset, according to research from faculty at Binghamton University, State University of New York.

A research team including Binghamton University Health and Wellness Studies Lecturer Jennifer Wegmann sought to evaluate the impact of health education on the change of stress mindset and also to explore the role of personality in the change of stress mindset when there is a specific focus on improving individual health and well-being. Specifically, they sought to assess the relationship between each personality dimension (i.e., neuroticism, extraversion, openness, agreeableness and conscientiousness) and stress mindset change over time.

UoM to start skill development courses for rural students | Mysuru News

Mysuru: The University of Mysore will launch skill development courses in government first grade colleges in Hassan and Chamarajanagar that were shifted to other districts by the state higher education department citing students’ strength.
Recently, the state government had announced plans of shifting six government first grade colleges with less than 100 students, to other districts. As part of the decision, Terakanambi Government FGC in Gundlupet taluk in Chamarajanagar was shifted to Kudachi in Belagavi district and Hethur Government FGC in Sakleshpura taluk in Hassan was shifted to Hebbal in Bengaluru.
In order to help students in these colleges to continue their education, the state admitted them to other colleges in the district.

Indiana is making free job training available for up to 100,000 Hoosiers who had their work affected by the pandemic by Indianapolis-based company 180 Skills.

Indiana is making free job training available for up to 100,000 Hoosiers who had their work affected by the pandemic. The courses will be delivered online through an Indianapolis-based company called 180 Skills. 

The online courses can take up to three months to complete and earn an industry-recognized certification. Many courses focus on advanced manufacturing skills, but others teach job interview skills and how to use Microsoft Office. Each course is free to the user, but costs the state around $30 a person. It’s part of the state’s Rapid Recovery plan for workers.

Sweetwater Union High School District to offer free Adult Education courses

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. — The Sweetwater Union High School District announced Tuesday its Adult Education Division will begin offering free career technical education courses in South Bay communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

AU to conduct skill development courses

The Centre for Defence Studies, Andhra University, is conducting three-month skill development courses on foreign languages, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Certificate course in Cyber Security and Certificate course in Disaster Management with an intake of 60 seats in each course (total 240 seats) for the academic year 2020-21. Persons with disability can learn new skill courses from the confines of their homes with an education tech start-up offering free of cost classes in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“COVID-19 has permanently changed the working environments and arrangements, and the new order is here to stay even in the post COVID era. People with disabilities are no different and it is upon us as a society to take them along in the new age,” said DigiVidyapeeth Founder and Managing Director Pradeep Khatri.
