Centre gives nod to constitute five centres for skill development in Andhra-ANI

Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], September 17 (ANI): The Central government has given its nod to the proposal to constitute five centres of excellence for skill development in Andhra Pradesh, said State Minister for Industries, Mekapati Goutham Reddy on Thursday.
Addressing media after a department review meeting on his recent Delhi visit, Reddy said, “The Central government has accepted the proposal for constitution of five centres of excellence for skill development in the state. NITI Aayog has also appreciated the state government’s “Nadu Nedu” (then and now) program.”
He said that the Centre has also shown enthusiasm and said it will cooperate in the development of eight fishing harbours in the state.

MSRDC wants to develop industrial training and skill development centres along Samruddhi corridor

The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) wants to develop industrial training centres and skill development centres along the Samruddhi Mahamarg which is also known as the super communication -expressway from Nagpur to Mumbai. A tender regarding the same has been issued inviting interested agencies to bid for the project.

A senior MSRDC official who did not wish to be named told the Free Press Journal, “Once the corridor is developed, the establishment of such growth centres will open up several opportunities. Also, this corridor will be providing direct connectivity to India’s largest container port– JNPT and therefore establishing such industrial and skill development centres will help the companies supplying goods and services to and fro. It will also provide job opportunities to nearby villagers and generate revenue to the government.”

According to the MSRDC, a pre-bid meeting has been arranged on September 4 at 3 pm for interested agencies

Andhra Pradsh setting up 30 skill development centres to provide quality workforce for industry

Andhra Pradesh government is establishing 30 Skill Development Centres for which it is partnering with institutes like Singapore Polytechnic, Van Hall Larenstein in the Netherlands and over 50 companies including Dell, Tata, HP, IBM, Biocon.

The YSRCP government had last year brought in a law reserving 75 percent jobs in all categories of industrial units for the locals.

“Training imparted should be as per the requirements of the industry so that these SDCs would play an important role in providing a highly-skilled workforce thus helping industrial development in AP,” Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy said in a review meeting on skill development on Tuesday.

The state’s industrial policy (2020-23) unveiled last month, mention the setting up of 30 skill development centres and two skill development universities with a focus on cutting edge analytics and smart manufacturing using Internet of Things, predictive maintenance.
