Centre gives nod to constitute five centres for skill development in Andhra-ANI

Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], September 17 (ANI): The Central government has given its nod to the proposal to constitute five centres of excellence for skill development in Andhra Pradesh, said State Minister for Industries, Mekapati Goutham Reddy on Thursday.
Addressing media after a department review meeting on his recent Delhi visit, Reddy said, “The Central government has accepted the proposal for constitution of five centres of excellence for skill development in the state. NITI Aayog has also appreciated the state government’s “Nadu Nedu” (then and now) program.”
He said that the Centre has also shown enthusiasm and said it will cooperate in the development of eight fishing harbours in the state.

Ramco Cements inks pact to develop apex skill development centre

Leading cement company The Ramco Cements Ltd and Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC ) have signed an agreement for setting up an Apex Skill Development Centre (ASDC) for imparting high-end skill training in the construction and infrastructure sector.

The agreement was signed by Chief Executive Officer of The Ramco Cements Ltd, A V Dharmakrishnan and Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation, V Vishnu on September 19 in the presence of State Chief Minister Tamil Nadu Edappadi K Palaniswami.

The proposed ASDC will be established at Ariyalur in Tamil Nadu, for which Ramco Cements have come forward to alienate six acres of land for setting up the project, according to a statement.

German development bank sponsors TVET lecturer training centre

Germany-based KfW Development Bank has signed an agreement with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) to establish an in-service skills development centre for technical and vocational education and training (TVET) lecturers, at the Ekurhuleni East College.

The agreement, which is part of the bilateral development cooperation between Germany and South Africa, provides for a R136-million, or €8.25-million, grant to DHET.

The centre will offer training for lecturers from TVET colleges across South Africa in the fields of electrical and mechanical engineering.

These areas offer important potential for employment and growth of South Africa’s manufacturing sector.
