Recently, the state government had announced plans of shifting six government first grade colleges with less than 100 students, to other districts. As part of the decision, Terakanambi Government FGC in Gundlupet taluk in Chamarajanagar was shifted to Kudachi in Belagavi district and Hethur Government FGC in Sakleshpura taluk in Hassan was shifted to Hebbal in Bengaluru.
In order to help students in these colleges to continue their education, the state admitted them to other colleges in the district.

Tadepalli: Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tech Mahindra Foundation, Biocon Academy and Schneider Electric to provide skills to the youth in the upcoming 30 skill development colleges throughout the State.

Citi and the Citi Foundation today announced an expansion of the global Pathways to Progress initiative, led by a Citi Foundation investment of $100 million to improve employability and economic opportunity around the world.
Through Pathways to Progress, young people become equipped with the skills and confidence they need to make a positive impact in their lives and their communities, and also access employment opportunities to succeed in rapidly changing economies.
Since 2014, the Citi Foundation has invested approximately $200 million globally in Pathways to Progress programming. By 2023, the Citi Foundation expects to cumulatively impact over a million young people around the world with a total investment of $300 million. - Only 16% of new hires possess the skills needed for their current jobs and the jobs of the future, according to Gartner analysis released September 10. “Existing roles may require up to 10 new skills by 2021,” the organization noted.
- Traditional talent acquisition sources may not enable employers to find these new skills in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, Gartner said, potentially leading employers to prioritize skills over “candidate profiles” that may miss out on workers that are largely self-taught. “Traditional recruiting methods are unable to compete with the large-scale shifts to the workplace and the labor market,” Lauren Smith, vice president in the Gartner HR practice, said a press release.

The World Bank board of directors approved a $104 million in support of skills development programmes for youths in Mozambique.
The grant came from the bank’s International Development Association (IDA) and will invest in Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and Higher Education (HE) subsystems.
