The company — a fourth-generation family business founded in 1912 — announced this week it has completed the sale of its wholly owned subsidiary, Burnco Landscape Centres Inc., to Site One Landscape Supply Inc. Site One is the largest wholesale distributor of landscape supplies in the U.S., and has a growing presence in Canada.

The sale will allow Burnco to focus on its existing businesses in aggregate, paving asphalt and ready-mix concrete, the company said, adding it is looking to expand its market position in these areas and will consider acquisitions where possible to advance its business strategy. The sale price was not disclosed.

The Burnco landscape centres that are being sold are located in Calgary, Balzac, Edmonton, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Fort McMurray, Saskatoon, Regina, Kelowna, Langley, and Surrey, B.C. The transaction includes the transition of Burnco Landscape’s management team and approximately 200 employees to Site One Landscape Supply. No job losses are anticipated as a result of the sale.
