Employment in Canada decreased by 205,400 jobs from July to August according to the August ADP(®) Canada National Employment Report. Broadly distributed to the public each month, free of charge, the ADP Canada National Employment Report is produced by the ADP Research Institute(®). The report, which is derived from actual ADP payroll data, measures the change in total nonfarm payroll employment each month on a seasonally-adjusted basis.

“In August, the labour market posted a decline in employment with the greatest job losses in construction; trade, transportation and utilities; and manufacturing,” said Ahu Yildirmaz, vice president and co-head of the ADP Research Institute. “Leisure and hospitality and finance, however, posted job gains for the first time since March 2020.”
The July total of jobs added was revised from 1,149,800 to -523,000.
The September 2020 ADP Canada National Employment Report will be released at 8:30a.m.ET on October 15, 2020.
