ACCI To Partner UNIABUJA On Skills Development, Innovation

The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has expressed readiness to collaborate with University of Abuja in various sectors including skill development, innovation, commercialisation of research and the new Abuja University Business School.

The ACCI president, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, made this known when he received some top management staff of the university led by its vice chancellor, Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, who paid him a courtesy call at the chamber.

A statement by the ACCI media officer, Latifat Opoola, said, Kayode, who noted that Prof Na’Allah was the first university vice chancellor to visit the chamber since its inception, used the occasion to brief them on the developmental strides made in the chamber in recent pasts including the establishment of the four centres and their activities.

The statement said the ACCI boss informed the delegation the four centres include the Business, Entrepreneurship, Skills and Technology Center (BEST), which supports and equips young graduates with skills that would make them employable.

“Graduates, today, have certificates but have little skills, the center helps in bridging the skills gap by providing business, entrepreneurial and technology to training youths,” it said.

The statement further stated Na’Allah, earlier in his remarks, said the visit was to seek collaboration with ACCI in various aspects including its new business school, adding the new school is a cutting edge 21st century business school that will train students on certain core competencies such as digital literacy, critical thinking and problem solving to help students thrive in today’s world.

“The VC was accompanied by director, school of business, Prof. Nzelibe Chinelo; the coordinator, MBA, Mr Bissan Danladi Joseph; the deputy registrar, Rosemary Edet; and the principal assistant registrar of the Insitution, Maryam Onido,” it added.
